“De Lokeend” is situated in the heart of the old boatmen's neighbourhood (Schipperskwartier), close to the old port and “Het Eilandje” (the small island, surrounded by harbor basins), where you can find the MAS Museum, the Museum of the shipping company Red Star Line and the Harbourhouse by Zaha Hadid.

The word “Lokeend” means ‘decoy duck’.

You can eat here in groups after prior arrangement and for minimum 12 people. You will always be the only group in the room.

Rita started cooking for friends and acquaintances on Saturday evenings in 1986. The guest tables were becoming more and more successful. Their friends brought other friends and the demand for tailor-made parties grew.

Max, their eldest son, started helping his mother in the kitchen 30 years ago, which allowed Rita to take more care of the guests.
In the meantime Dirk, Rita’s husband, took care of
the restoration of the building, including the splendid dome in the orangery. All the paintings on the walls are by his hand. He was a professional sculptor and painter.

When it comes to food, we only work with fresh and honest products.
The service is friendly to maintain the family atmosphere.
